TRAIL POLICY

Skiing can be enjoyed in many ways. At ski areas you may see people using alpine, snowboard, telemark, cross country or other specialized ski equipment, such as that used by disabled or other skiers. Regardless of how you choose to enjoy the slopes, always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Observe the code listed below and share with other skiers the responsibility for a great skiing experience.

 Your Responsibility Code

  •  Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.
  •  People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.
  •  Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
  •  Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
  •  You must prevent runaway equipment.
  •  Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
  •  Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  •  You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
  •  Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  •  If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.
  • Winter sports involve risk of serious injury or death. Your knowledge, decisions and actions contribute to your safety and that of others.

Approved Equipment

Ski Ward Ski Area reserves the right to select the type of equipment allowed on  aerial and surface lifts, and terrain. The only approved equipment for lift service at Ski Ward Ski Area are skis, snowboards and snowblades with metal edges and proper retention devices(bindings) that appropriately fit. All equipment must have functioning run away prevention devices, (skis must have fully functioning brakes or leashes, snowboards must have leashes). Equipment not allowed includes but is not limited to snowskates, snowscooters, snowbikes and boots that are not intended to be used with ski or snowboard equipment. This list is not exhaustive and subject to change at any time. In addition, foot passengers are not allowed on lifts unless authorized by management in advance.

BACKPACKS – backpacks must be removed when riding chairlifts. Backpacks may be carried on your lap, or seat if space allows.

Outside Food Policy

Per the Shrewsbury Board of Health, Ski Ward does not allow outside food or drink. If you are found with outside food or drink you will be asked to dispose of it. If you are found in possession of Alcohol not purchased from Ski Ward or are outside of the designated areas you will be asked to leave Ski Ward and may not be allowed back on the property.

Downhill Traffic Only

Ski Ward Ski Area does not allow any uphill traffic of any kind with or without a lift ticket.

Children Riding Lifts

Any child riding a chair lift at Ski Ward Ski Area must be wearing skis or a snowboard and have sufficient ability to ride the lift. They must be familiar with proper loading, riding, and unloading practices as well as etiquette. Adults Carrying or Transporting a child in a backpack or front pack on any chair lift or surface lift at Ski Ward Ski Area & TubaSlide is prohibited.

Uphill Policy

There is NO uphill traffic is permitted, including touring, hiking or snowshoeing.

Animal Policy

No dogs allowed on hill or lifts!
Ski Ward does not allow animals of any kind on the snow surface or any of the lifts, conveyors or like devices. This includes Service Animals.
Service animals are allowed in buildings

Spectator Policy

Lift and base personnel will alert ski patrol in the event of hikers starting up any trail.
Spectators must stay outside of all fencing or ropes in place on the event venue (including b-net or event-fencing).
Spectators must obey and follow rules and instructions of race or event officials, resort staff and/or patrol personnel.
Sleds, dollies, outdoor cooking equipment such as grills, coolers, strollers or other equipment are not permitted on the resort grounds.
Persons found in violation of this policy will be removed from the event venue and/or the resort grounds without refund.

THEFT OF SERVICES POLICY

Skiing, riding, and using the chairlifts at Ski Ward Ski Area without a valid day ticket or while using someone else’s season pass is General Larceny: Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 266, Section 30

Any individual committing theft by obtaining services available by compensation through deception, threat, force, or any other means designed to avoid payment will be charged accordingly.

STORAGE & BAG POLICY

Unattended bags, gear, and/or personal items are prohibited on Ski Ward Ski Area property. Any bags, gear, and/or personal items left unattended or left behind will be placed outside by our staff.

WHERE TO STORE YOUR GEAR

    • Outdoor Cubbies – Located on the patio adjacent to the ticket booth.

    • Vehicles – Guests are also encouraged to keep their belongings inside their vehicles while they take their runs.

DRONE POLICY

Out of safety concerns for guests, employees, and resort property, Ski Ward Ski Aera prohibits the operation or use of unmanned aerial systems, or aerial drones, by the general public – including recreational users and hobbyists.

This prohibition includes drones for filming or videotaping, as well as any drone use by media or journalists operating above property owned and managed by Ski Ward Ski Area. This prohibition on drone use extends to any drones launched or operated from Resort property, as well as drones launched from private property outside of the Resort boundaries.

Any violation of this policy may involve suspension of your skiing or snowboarding privileges, including the revocation of your season pass, as well as confiscation of any equipment. Violators will be liable for any damages, including but not limited to, physical or personal injuries, property damage, damages for violations of privacy, regulatory fines and legal fees.
