About The Sumner House

Commissioned by Reverend Joseph Sumner, this sprawling Colonial home sits on two acres of shaded lawns and perennial gardens. Listed in the National Register, the inn's pristine character has been retained for all these years. A letter from George Washington to Artemus Ward was found in the home's safe in 1980. Furnished with family heirlooms, the array of common rooms includes a study, great room with fireplace, parlor, living room, sunroom boasting a TV and an antique tool collection. Sunny guest bedrooms feature wide plank and splatter-painted floors. The Ward Room boasts a deep soaker tub. Expect signature breakfast dishes like Sumner Eggs, blueberry and apple pancakes or French toast strata to round off the meal.
